Perfectly Harmless incorporates text from three letters written between the superintendent of Kingston's Rockwood Asylum and a patient’s family, spanning a 30 year period. The letters indicate the patient was healthy but was never discharged by her family. The use of worthless burlap sacks and hay mirror the patient’s treatment as insignificant.
